People will always tell you that the best things in life don’t come without a price tag. This is where you will be shown otherwise. Chicago, IL, is one of the most famous and infamous cities in the US. It is also known for being an excellent place to visit and tour around. How do you do all this when your budget is so tight you can barely breathe? Here are some of the most awesome free activities in Chicago you can engage in at any time for no cost, according to ifonly.com

Go to the Hancock Center

The Signature Lounge of the Hancock Center is a free lounge at this building, located on the 95th floor. This is the same height as the Sears Tower, which would set you back $20 for a trip to the top. The view from the Center happens to be far better than that of the Tower too!

Go Cycling on the Trails

Chicago is known for having some of the most beautiful and fun cycling trails in the entire US. All of these can be reached with ease from the city and within it. You can rent a bike at one of the many bike shops nearby or take your own with you when you visit the city.

Explore Humboldt Park

This is probably one of the biggest parks in the state. Humboldt Park stretches out across a massive 219 acres of greenery and buildings. There is a fitness center here, along with two gyms. The park also features a lagoon at the center and an inland beach! If you have some money to spend here, be sure to visit the boathouse café for a hearty meal.

Check Out the Pedestrian Underground

Does your city have a subway system? Chicago has something completely different – a pedway. In an effort to reduce traffic, the city invested in over 50 miles of tunnels running throughout downtown Chicago, open only to pedestrians. Traverse these and lose your way, all for the price of nothing.

Visit the North Pond

The North Pond is a small natural reserve in Lincoln Park and is one of the jewels of the city. You can visit the pond for free and enjoy the people here as well as the relaxing atmosphere. Lie down and unwind for a while before you head back to the city.

Go to the Museum

The Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art is free to the public every Tuesday as long as you have a license in the state of Illinois. It is also one of the best places in the city to take in some gorgeous examples of modern art. Even if you are here from outside the state, paying the small entrance fee is entirely worth it in the long run because of the memories you get to make.

You can also take that bicycle you used for the trails and use it to bike along the eighteen miles of Chicago lakefront. This is a very cool thing to do, especially if you take the time to watch the people on the way. Just be sure not to hit anyone!
