Many people dream of travelling. The idea of being able to go wherever you want and whenever you want sounds great, but once you’re out there on your perfect solo travel the reality hits you. You’re alone, and all your friends and family stayed home. It can get tough at times, so you should come up with a few ways to solve this problem before you even decide where you want to go.

Don’t be afraid to start a conversation

Fear is one of the biggest obstacles you can come across in your life. It stops you from doing the things you love, taking even small risks can be really difficult if you question every single step. Well, the obvious solution is to just stop being afraid. But unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Yet confidence is something you can learn. So start by making short conversations with strangers you meet in a bar or on a bus. It won’t be easy at the beginning, especially if you’re shy by nature but you’ll soon notice that it’s becoming easier and easier with time. Practice makes perfect, and you’ll gain a chance to make new friends everywhere you go.

Use public transport

When you find yourself in a foreign country, it may seem like a great idea to rent a car to drive around and visit all the places you want to see. It’s convenient and gives you a lot of freedom. But by choosing this solution, you’re automatically limiting your chances of meeting new people. On the other hand, if you decide to take a bus or a train, you’ll not only be able to meet other tourists but also locals who’ll be able to tell you a lot about their culture and country. Maybe you’ll even find out about other interesting things you should see. The most valuable experiences come to us unexpectedly, so instead of waiting for an opportunity, go out and create it yourself by being around other people.

Take part in tours and group activities

There’s nothing that can make you feel more lonely than spending too much time on your own. And while having some alone time once in a while is great, you need other people to talk to as well. It may seem complicated when you’re so far away from home, but meeting someone interesting is a lot easier than it seems at first. You can use opportunities like city tours or local events to make new friends. Choosing hostels as your accommodation is another option. Many travellers like staying in such places because it’s easy to get along with other visitors. Having someone who understands your experience and can relate to your problems and feelings is always a good thing, especially when you’re feeling homesick.

Look for company

Sometimes all you want is to get away from all the problems and relax. Yet, just because you’re not interested in getting to know someone better doesn’t mean you have to spend your time alone. Don’t spend the evening in your hotel room, go out and have fun. Visit the nearest pub or local clubs, you’ll find yourself in great company without any trouble. But not everyone travels to make new friends. And if you’d rather avoid the awkwardness of first meetings and small talks, there’s another solution available for you. You can hire someone and pay for their time, for example, you can look for the best escorts in London to find a person that will keep you company for a few hours.

There’s a big difference between being alone and being lonely. If you enjoy peace and quiet, you won’t have any problem with spending some time on your own. But once you start feeling lonely, it’s better to take steps to solve this issue right away before it ends up ruining the trip of your dreams.
