Valentine's Day White Texas Sheet Cake

Ingredients
  • Ingredients:
  • 2 C all-purpose flour
  • 2 C sugar
  • 1 TSP baking powder
  • 1 TSP kosher salt
  • 1 TSP baking soda
  • 1 C unsalted butter
  • 1 C water
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅔ C sour cream
  • 1 TSP almond extract
  • Frosting:
  • ½ C unsalted butter
  • ½ C whole milk
  • 5 C confectioners' sugar
  • ½ TSP almond extract
  • ½ TSP kosher salt
  • Valentines Day sprinkles to garnish
Instructions
  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 375 degrees F
  2. Spray a 15x10x1-inch sheet pan with baking spray, set aside
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt,
  4. and baking soda
  5. Then in a small saucepan, add the butter and water
  6. Bring to a boil and quickly remove from heat
  7. Stir the hot liquid into the flour mixture
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, sour cream, and almond extract
  9. until smooth
  10. Pour that into the flour mixture and stir until smooth
  11. Spread batter in the prepared sheet pan
  12. Baked 18-22 minutes until the cake is just golden brown and a
  13. toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
  14. Cool on a wire rack for about 15 minutes
  15. While the cake cools, prepare the frosting by combining the butter and
  16. milk in a large saucepan, bring to a boil
  17. Remove from the heat and gradually stir in the confectioners' sugar,
  18. almond extract, and salt
  19. Spread the glaze over the warm cake and immediately top with sprinkles
