“Blog” ~~ What is means today vs. the first concept ~~ Read how I weigh in
Today’s world offers a lot more information than when I was growing up in the 80’s. To me, gone are the days of journalizing your thoughts and deepest secrets in a little book with a lock that only you knew where the key would be to open it up, a.k.a. a diary.
Today’s technology allows you to journalize anything from a personal journey to the latest sale at Sears. My blog, itsfreeatlast.com, is no exception to today’s way of expression.
The term “Blog” is a contraction of the term “web log”. Starting in the late ’90s with the mainstream influx of technology and sites like AOL & other Internet Service Provider’s (ISP’s), wikipedia states that as of 2011, over 156 million public blogs pages were in existence.
There are many companies that enable a person or company to start a free blog, the most common one being “Blogger“. My blog is on a WordPress format and I pay for my web address and domain name.
I actually started a small blog on Blogger back in 2009 as a way to journalize my life as a single parent. I was living a frugal life as a couponer and one day I decided to incorporate my knowledge into my blog and have been sharing ever since. While I have steered away from the mainstream “Coupon Blogger” title, I do still like to share frugal living tips, coupons and a great deal when I find one.
The nice aspect of blogging, whether it is personal or on a business level, is that you can back up your work and keep it for many years to come. Whether you want to share the journey you have of being a parent, showing off your latest fashion find or just memorializing your trip to the Keys, I think blogging for anyone can be fun, expressive and rewarding.
