Five Ways to Make Your Next Hawaii Trip More Memorable
Hawaii is a truly magical place, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t pass by you. To make your experience more memorable, you need to be more intentional with your time and what you do. Going on planned tours is great, but it’s not very unique. If you really want to get more out of your amazing experience on these stunning islands, then you’ll want to focus on these five tips to help make your trip absolutely perfect.
Book an Amazing Resort
One thing that will absolutely make a huge difference in your Hawaiian trip is, by far, a great resort. Staying in one of the best beachfront Oahu resorts will give you access to stunning amenities, live music at night, live shows, and so much more. You can accomplish and enjoy a lot without having to leave your resort, which lets you actually do more overall than if you had to travel every time you wanted to get out and do something. Not only that but properties in Waikiki and Honolulu are perfectly located for those that want to venture further to the other corners of Oahu.
See Authentic Hawaiian Culture
A great way to make your stay truly special is to head over to the Polynesian Cultural Center, where you can see authentic dances, learn how to hula dance yourself, and so much more. As a cultural institution, you’ll learn the meaning and significance behind these cultural activities and, in turn, help support the local communities overall.
Learn to Surf
Oahu is home to Waikiki Beach, which was made famous after Duke Kahanamoku, a five-time Olympian and Hollywood actor, created surfing as it is known today. Waikiki today is still a top place for newcomers to learn how to surf, as the waves are a healthy size without being too out of reach.
Challenge Yourself on a Hike
A long hike is a must when you’re in Hawaii. Choose a trail that suits your experience and fitness level, and head on out! Trails occasionally need to be booked in advance (like with the Diamond Head trail), so check in advance so you don’t end up disappointed.
Give Back
There are so many ways that you can give back and help leave the island better than you found it. On the island of Hawaii, for example, you can partner up with the Hawaiian Reforestation Program and help replant trees on the top of the mountains. This is a once-in-a-lifetime hike that helps the environment while you’re at it.
Helping out doesn’t need to be so strenuous, either. If you wanted to do a sunrise yoga session, for example, book a session with Travel 2 Change and know that your money is helping fund the local food bank.
There are so many different ways you can give back on your trip, so see if there are options out there that interest you so you can help leave the stunning islands of Hawaii better off than when you arrived.
I have never been to Hawaii. Now I probably won’t see it now either, because my husband and I were supposed to go there for our honeymoon.
We went to my father’s memorial instead! His neighbor found him dead in the snow three days before we got married! Needless to say, life began its busy runaround. Then last year the only person who I wanted to go there with died last year! I just don’t want to go there without him . I still love to read wonderful articles like these and dream Thank you for sharing!
I’d love to go to Hawaii someday
