It has finally arrived, my daughter’s senior year of high school.  I might sound cliché when I say “time sure has flown by”, but it really is true.  Seems like yesterday I was helping her pick out her clothes for the first day of 3rd grade, and now here we are, tomorrow starts her final journey of her High School career.

Since she was in 3rd grade, she wanted to be a police officer.  As my only child, I have always harbored secret leeriness because of the risk and danger that goes along with that profession, but on the outside, I have always encouraged her dreams.  Since her sophomore year, we have discussed her options of military versus college.

While the journey has been fast, the process of applying and getting all of the necessary documentation has come so quickly.  From preparing and testing for the ACT/SAT and online application process of the colleges she wishes to apply for has been stressful.  I wish I would have found this informative resourse, KapMap from Kaplan Test Prep, much much sooner.

Starting late can be stressful and hinder your child’s chances of getting all the documentation together in time for the college(s) they really want to apply for.  KapMap gives a nice schedule to utilize for your high school student, starting with their freshman year of high school.  The KapMap is free and easy to download.

The KapMap & KapTest.com online site is full of information and resources  including deadlines, test-prepping assistance, interviewing skills and much more.

Hannah is going to have the proper guidance to finalize all of her application and testing plans now thanks to the KapMap from Kaplan Test Prep. A few things that we learned from visiting the site include:

  • SAT testing will be changing starting in 2016
  • Keep your social media profiles honest, simple and clean.  Colleges can access and WILL look at your social media posting
  • Keep your grades up, they will have an impact years later
  • Get Involved! Doing activities above and beyond your school work shows you have drive and the will to do more

Kaplan works hard to get the most current information available for upcoming students.  Kapla surveys college admissions officers to ensure that students are receiving accurate and up-to-date information on trends in the college admissions process. Here are the highlights from 2013’s College Admissions Officers survey.

If you have a student looking for ACT or SAT test prepping, you can save $100 right now using code: SHESPEAKS$100 – good until 08/28/14
