Keeping Active with Sunshine and Outdoor Play #SummertimePlay
School is officially out and the kids are ready for some sunshine, laughter and outdoor fun. Our weather has been sporadic – rain for 3 days, then intense heat. Fortunately, we have had a few days of nice, balanced sunshine that makes it perfect for us to hit up our local park and give the kids some time to play and enjoy themselves with some fun park activities.
On rainy days, we will stay in and watch movies, play games and keep ourselves entertained as best we can; however, we all long for that outdoor air and fun. The swimming pool can bring temporary relief from the intense heat, but nothing beats the maneuverability and fun of our playground.
While there are other things in our community that we enjoy such as the zoo, museum and water parks, nothing really beats the playground park close to our home. It has 2 nature trails, a wonderful lake you can fish and boat in, a free spray-ground to cool off and most importantly, a beautiful playground for the kids to enjoy and exert some energy at.
We enjoy meeting up with friends, kids enjoy the ability to let off some energy and even get imaginative and creative with play on the animals and pirate ship. I love that kids can build friendships, stay physically fit, learn strengthening and exercise skills and enjoy it all for free.
If you have a local park or playground in our area, share in a comment below what your favorite aspects of it are. Take some time to step out and enjoy the vitamin benefits of sun, the physical exercise you get with your kids at the playground and all of the friends you can see and make while there.
When you are there, be sure to snap a selfie or candid shot of the kids playing and tag it on social media using #SummertimePlay. For more information about the benefits of outdoor, playground play and safety tips, check out Voice of Play.
