My Skinny Self is SCREAMING to get out!!! #CoreunDiet
I have to confess, the last 10 years have taken a toll on my body. Through 2 battles of cancer, a nasty divorce and moving twice, my solace has become food. My parents divorced when I was 5 and the three of us all dealt with it in a different way. My brother turned to alcohol, my sister turned to serial dating and I turned to food. As the baby of the family, it seemed the most comforting to me. Years later I can acknowledge and accept it, but at the time, I wish someone would have taught me better eating habits.
This was me in 2004
You cannot really tell with this pic, but I was a nice, healthy weight. I am 5’11 and have always been considered a large girl; however, even at 29, I only weighed 160 making me very skinny looking.
This is me in 2014
You can clearly tell with the addition of some more chins and the nice sized spare tire around my midriff, 10 years has nearly doubled me in size. I have to tell you that the skinny girl I once was is screaming to come out! I notice it with little things, from the death grip of the seatbelt each morning to the shower curtain trying to attach itself to my hip each time I get in (because of my girth of course). I am ready for a change, I am ready for the support and I am ready to make a lifestyle change, not dieting, but UNDIETING!!! I am hoping to show you a picture of me this time in 2015 with a lot less of “ME”
I will be in Las Vegas January 8-9, 2015. Living Larger is Diminished by Excess Weight
The key to living larger, to reaping more out of life, is losing weight now. OK, that is not universally true…it’s an overstatement. Maybe.
You see, we all want more life in our years. We all want more years — good years — to our lives. But the truth is, if we are overweight, especially if we are overweight by a huge margin, we end up doing less than we want to. We end up doing things differently than we would otherwise choose. Right?
And, (and this is a BIG AND), those extra pounds are causing a lot of damage to our bodies. 80% of us will die of diseases, before our time, because of all those extra pounds.
Diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and 30% of all cancers have their origins in excess weight. Before they strike us down, we will have a long and expensive decline in ability to get around and do what we really want to be doing with our lives.
Excess weight is not just a matter of cosmetics. It is a real problem that changes our lives in difficult and nefarious ways.
What we can’t do, when we decide to lose those extra pounds, what we MUST NOT DO, is diet. Dieting is the primary cause of weight gain in this country. Or, more accurately, dieting causes weight RE-GAIN.
So, why do we do it? Because we don’t know any other way. Until now. Maybe the next time you want to try to lose weight, shouldn’t you try an UnDiet? Maybe you ought to look into the #CoreUnDiet.
