Our body requires protein for many different reasons. Alongside assisting with repairs, it aids with growth and development. So if you believe that you’re not getting enough of it, it’s essential to make some alterations to your diet.

While it can seem challenging, it’s actually not that difficult. There are so many incredible meal options to choose from – you just need to plan ahead.

In this article, we are going to talk about four tips to increase your protein intake.

Sound interesting? Then let’s get started.

Experiment with different protein sources.

There are a lot of different primary protein sources out there, so when it comes to increasing your intake, don’t be scared to experiment. It will keep things exciting, and you’re much more likely to stick to your initial diet plan.

From this mouthwatering berkshire pork to salmon, eggs, chicken breast and even vegan options such as tofu, seitan and lentils. You would be surprised at all the different recipes you can make.

Eat your primary protein first.

When you’ve got a delicious meal laid out in front of you, it’s tempting to go straight for all of your favorite things. However, it’s easy to fill up on unnecessary carbs such as pasta and rice and leave behind all of the goodness.

Try and get into the habit of eating your primary protein first before moving on to other areas. This way, you’ll ensure that you’re getting exactly what you need but can still enjoy those other ingredients as a reward.

Consider adding extra ingredients to meals.

You don’t have to eat meat and vegetables for every meal to get a good amount of protein. You just need to make smart choices during your day to boost the amount of it in each meal.

For instance, you might top your breakfast with nuts and chia seeds or add some hummus and nut butter alongside your vegetable sticks. It may not seem like much at the time, but it will all accumulate together.

Pick up some protein powder.

Finally, as you may already be aware, protein powder is one of the quickest ways to boost your intake, as taking protein supplements isn’t as complex as cooking full meals. It comes in a wide range of flavors and can be consumed as a beverage or added to smoothies, pancakes, and oats.

However, while they can be great, it is essential to note that they shouldn’t be your primary source of nutrients. Whole foods are much better for you and won’t contain as many sweeteners and flavorings. Consume them responsibly, and always read the labels.

Final words.

As you can see from the above, there are many different ways to increase your intake of protein. Although, before you make any significant diet changes, it’s worth reaching out to your healthcare professionals.

Eating too much can lead to significant health problems, including weight gain, bad breath, constipation, and even kidney damage. You’ll want to be sure you’re giving your body everything that it needs to stay fit and healthy.
