Benefits You May Not Have Known Existed with Aflac #DiscoverYourBenefits
Fall is here and this means that the kids are in school, the leaves are turning and there is a ton of outdoor activity that my family likes to enjoy. Just as we are getting into the pre-holiday spirit, a few days ago I got the phone call that no parent ever wants to get. I answered and on the other line was my teenage daughter crying, “Mom, I have been in an accident!” My heart was racing, I was panicked and had a million thoughts going through my head. My first instinctive question was, “Are you hurt?” Thankfully, she was not too badly injured, but her car was totaled.
While the car is replaceable, her health and well-being is not. I took her to the hospital the next day and she did sustain injuries of whiplash and muscle strain. Thankfully, I have extra protection with Aflac.
Did you know The National Safety Council indicates that the average medical expense for an accidental injury is $5,500. And according to the Centers for Disease Control, there are more than 80 million injury-related visits to doctors’ offices, hospital outpatient departments and emergency-treatment facilities in the U.S. each year.*
While we have not yet received the bills, they will start rolling in soon and I am thankful to have Aflac there to help out. She has already had an ER visit, x-rays and now there is physical therapy ordered for her knees, which hit the steering column. We will not let the unfortunate event deter us from enjoying all the things that this beautiful fall season brings. We can continue to enjoy pumpkin patches, apple orchards and beautiful weekend adventures. Aflac has helped take the worry out of the financial burden that this accident brings.
Research your benefits this Open Enrollment season and find the right voluntary policies to help keep every generation of your family protected.
Although selecting the right health care benefits may be one of the most important decisions Americans will make all year, an Aflac survey found that many workers do very little research to learn which plans and products really work best for them.
Accident insurance helps provide everyday financial protection in the event of a covered accident. Benefits are paid for things like x-rays, physical therapy, appliances, emergency treatment and more.
People who don’t set aside time to research their insurance options often end up with inadequate health care protection for themselves and their families. I am thankful to have done my research and did what was needed to make sure that we would be covered in an unfortunate event like the recent accident.
