Many of the lessons and skills which individuals learn while in pursuit of their scientific careers are easily transferrable. The scientific method applies to all the different branches of science, no matter how disconnected their subject matter might seem.

Not only is a career in science an excellent choice for those who are looking to learn useful and transferrable skills, it is also a prime opportunity to earn a very good wage. Here, we take a look at some of the best paying science jobs available across a range of disciplines.

Even amongst the other fields of scientific study, physics stands out. It is a truly unique discipline, involving the study of reality itself, as well as the matter that is contained within it. Physics encapsulates every experience that we have in life, it defines it mathematically and objectively. By using the language of mathematics, physics is able to show what is true beyond any doubt. Physicists can seek employment in virtually any STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) field they choose as all these fields will call on the skills and knowledge of a physicist at some point.

Geologists also consider the implications of fossil records, the best records we have of how ancient life on Earth came into being and how it developed and survived. Geologists study the causes and implications of natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, and landslides.

The average salary for a geologist is $106,000 a year.

Toxicologist

The ultimate goal of a scientist is to make the world a better place. As a field of study and research, science is uniquely disciplined to improve the quality of life of large numbers of people.
