It has been at least 10 years since my daughter and I had a professional family portrait taken. To be honest, the last family photo we have of us is with my now ex-husband and that was when she was 8! She is now 20!
I know, time has gotten the best of us, but it goes by so fast and with the invention of the smartphone, I never thought to do our once annual family portrait that we did every year from the first year she was born.
Now that she is in college and will be moving out in the next few years, I am taking back some of this precious time that is slipping away so fast and making memories with great, professional family photos. That is why we headed to the best – Portrait Innovations.

They had our appointment scheduled at 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived about 15 minutes early, as I always like to leave enough time to be ready. There was a family of TWENTY-NINE (29) ahead of us and my initial thought was we were going to be waiting a long time. NOT AT ALL!
We were quickly greeted by our personal photographer, Emma, who assured me we would be starting promptly at 2:30. The studio was filled with family and laughter, and decorated appropriately to put everyone in the holiday mood. 
Emma was simply the best. Hannah and I are only a family of two, but she gave us as much time, attention and detail as the family of twenty-nine. We have fun poses, great, festive poses and individual shots for each of us.
We got to have some great Christmas pictures taken, as well as, fall and simply backdrop photos. Emma was feeding off the rapport that Hannah and I have, as she ended up snapping a few, fun, candid photos that we just love. 
After over 80+ shots taken, we sat down to select which poses and modifications we wanted. That part was just as enjoyable as the photo shoot itself. Changing looks to a Sepia or Black/White style gives the photographs a great appeal. 
We opted for the poses we wanted for our prints, as well as, a great style for a Christmas gift for grandma. We even ordered a calendar of various photos that we can give to family as a gift for Christmas. Best part? Portraits were ready in about 20 minutes so we could take them home same day!

Lol very cute I laughed so much last time I got pictures done was just a huge nightmare at JCPenney’s the camera girl was horrible my crazy inlaw was there trying to run the entire thing it was just a nightmare there were no props no poses nothing and I ended up paying hundreds of dallors and waiting weeks for my horrible pictures this company looks so awesome!

I think the advent of cell phones with cameras has changed how we view family photos, for sure. I haven’t gotten professional portraits done in years, though I do have some taken with our cell phones or cameras that (with editing) look more natural and just as nice as professional ones, I think. I don’t really miss those portrait sessions. But, your pictures are very nice! Backdrops have definitely come a long way! 🙂
