Based on the infamous children’s novel, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Disney’s new feature film explores what it is like when Alexander actually has a good day and everyone around him experiences what would be his typical “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!”

During my summer excursion to LA, I got to see a private screening of this movie and can honestly say it was delightfully funny and will keep the entire family in stitches.  Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner provide are truly a great team and comedic duo that provides the non-stop laughs in this movie.

One of my favorite scenes is when a book publishing error leads to some not so childlike graphics that are to be read by non other that Mr. Dick Van Dyke, at a local children’s bookstore.

More about the movie:

Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn’t had one. “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” directed by Independent Spirit Award-winner Miguel Arteta (“The Good Girl,” “Cedar Rapids,” “Youth in Revolt”) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, is a 21 Laps Entertainment/Jim Henson Company production. The film hits theaters nationwide Oct. 10, 2014.

After having his own day that couldn’t get any worse, Alexander family learns and experiences some of the same mishaps and downfalls that Alexander himself has been experiencing a lot lately.  Another favorite aspect of this movie is Alexander’s older brother, who is doing everything he can to impress his girlfriend and the storm keeps raining on his parade throughout the day.  Let’s just say “XOXO” is one of the best lines in the movie!

This adorable baby finds himself playing with a non-toxic semi-permanent highlighter and gives him the cutest green beard I have ever seen.  At the end of the day, the family does come together and celebrate Alexander’s Big Birthday and have an amazing adventure, even during the party.

Alexander, and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a must-see movie for you and everyone you know.  It will keep you laughing and tickle every funny bone in your body.

Here are a few clips of the movie for you to get a taste of the humor this movie will deliver:

  • I love comedies. I can’t wait to see this. I think this would be a great movie to sit and watch with my granddaughters.

  • This looks like so much fun and I can’t wait to see Dick VanDyke again, thank you.

  • I like Steve Carell and I go see most of his movies…I am not sure if this one is for me though…Thanks for the update.
