1. Be Alert When Out and About: Property crimes represent the highest share of crimes against those 65 and older – nearly nine out of 10 – according to the National Elder Law Network. For example, always lock cars, even if they’ll only be unattended for a few minutes. Keep packages and valuables out of sight, and always check the area around your car before entering or exiting. 2. Lock Up Home Safety: Typically a place of comfort and refuge, seniors should never have to worry about safety in their own home. I am a senior, My home was invaded, I had nothing left of value. They took my jewelry, old coins I had been collecting, & anything of value. I must have interrupted them, or it was someone we knew, because the house was not in shambles, only a few things were disturbed. I returned home from the store, unlocked the door, I went straight to the kitchen to drop off the groceries, the window was ajar ( I could feel the cold air), I did not leave it that way. I would have seen it from the driveway, right beside the window, they were in the house when I returned. I would love to have this safe, to feel more secure. Thank you for offering this!
