These days, if you want to be amazed by something, you can simply go onto the Internet and almost instantly find something that’s going to leave your mouth agape. Now, although a lot of what’s going to leave you in a sense of disbelief may be fake news or horrible current events, there are also sections of the Internet where you can be amazed and left in awe by some pretty fantastic and innovative inventions.

There are numerous projects that have dazzled and impressed Internet users over the years, with inventors creating some really crazy stuff. Here are some of the best inventions you can find online that are sure to leave you at least a little impressed.

Fully functioning lightsaber

There are things in science fiction that no matter how much we wish could be true, they are ultimately impossible to implement in reality. For the longest of times one of these very items was the lightsaber from the Star Wars franchise, for obvious reasons. There’s no way we could create a retractable ray of light that has the power to cut through steel and concreate, right? Wrong.

In 2020, YouTube sensation ‘The Hacksmith’ created a fully functional lightsaber made out of concentrated plasma beams that has the power to shatter glass on impact, burn flesh and even carve a hole in fortified steel doors. The technology and the science that was used to create such a thing was crazy, not to mention a little dangerous due to the extreme heat and power involved.

What’s really special about this saber is that its created included a button for it to switch on and off, using a complicated electronic system to do so that uses components that can be found on Octopart. The only drawback is that it has to be powered by propane gas that has to be worn by the user in a backpack, but this just makes it look even more steampunk.

Explosive baseball bat

Every keen baseball player fantasizes of being able to hit effortless home runs with every swing, but now with the explosive baseball bat, the person behind the YouTube channel ‘Stuff Made Here’ was able to live out that fantasy.

The explosive baseball bat is exactly what it sounds like, and is a normal wooden bat that’s fitted with blank shotgun shells to create an explosion to send a ball flying into the stratosphere on impact. The invention is super satisfying to watch in action, and absolutely smashed the MLB homerun distance record multiple times.

More recently, there’s now a second version of this bat that’s made out of metal and uses four shotgun shells instead of two, to further increase its power and hitting distance.

Jet suit

Humanity has been obsessed with the idea of flying since the prehistoric era, with many famous inventors like Da Vinci and of course the Wright Brothers making various inventions and attempts to try and sore into the sky. Although these days we have helicopters and planes, there’s still a desire to make flying more natural.

One company doing that is Gravity Industries, which has over the last few years created a fully functioning jet suit that uses arm and feet mounted boosters to propel you across the sky like Iron Man. The device lets users’ sore meters off the ground and speed along, and with the technology the company is interested in creating a competitive racing league, which could be a very interesting, and futuristic sporting phenomenon.
