The cold weather is the perfect time for me to do some great binge watching of my favorite shows. Back in 2016, a new, FREE series on Amazon came out of the woodwork and took the internet by storm – The Other F Word! Well get ready and get as excited as I am, because season 2 is here and now available on Amazon.
I tore into a bag of kettle corn and reclined back as I eagerly started my view of season 2! This show has comedic relevance to me – a soon-to-be empty-nester, single mom of a young adult.
Now immediately you think “Oh my, the F Word!”, but let me tell you, F describes Fabulous, Forties, Fifties, Fun, Frivolous, Fantastic and Freaky! Just because you might be at a point in your life where the kids are gone and now living their own lives does not me you are ready to be put out to pasture. For me, life is anew at 45!
This show is the perfect prescription for the women out there who needing reassurance that midlife is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new set of uniquely exciting adventures in life.
The last couple of years, I have watched my daughter go start college, start a relationship and start forming her own path in life. I’m not lying when I say, I have thought to myself, “Now what?” Let me tell you how my “now what” is transpiring. It has turned into more travel, closer bonds of friendship, nights out to dinner with friends and taking that afternoon nap if I want without the worry of having a little one around who might get into something they shouldn’t.
The Other F Word is like certain elements of my own midlife playing out on a screen before my very eyes and it is breathtaking and refreshing to know that F for Forties does not mean I am anywhere close to hanging up my adventurous nature.
The second season cast lineup is something to look forward to – including: Judy Gold, Steve Guttenberg, Gilbert Gottfried, Michael Boatman, Alysia Reiner and Nancy Giles. Plus, former Comedy Central EVP and comedian Judy Gold joins Jentis as an Executive Producer
As noted by the shows creator and writer, Caytha Jentis, “The supporting characters are women who all find themselves a bit disoriented, discovering they live in an unfamiliar world after their kids are grown, after spouses die, and after not having worked for a couple of decades.”

If you are at that midlife feeling in your own life, you will be amazed at how much this show mirrors many of your own feelings, sentiments and experiences at this time in your life…I sure have and love every moment of the series.
