My #Chicago ’13 Journey ~~ Let the fun begin
Are you confused from the start by the title? Well let me shed a little light into what BlogHer is. A national, annual convention of every type of blogger imaginable coming together to laugh, live, network, learn, mingle and so many more adjectives that I can’t even begin to type them all.
Now, by today’s standards, I consider myself a “Lifestyle” blogger. I use my blog “voice” to share great times from review and giveaways, to recipes, movie reviews, deals and savings tips and so much more. “Why did I start blogging?”, you ask? Well, I started blogging in January, 2011 as a coupon-er and way to share my knowledge of savings and deals with others in what has been a tight economy for years now. As time has passed, I have metamorphosed into what I consider more and a general or lifestyler blogger today.
Now don’t get me wrong, blogging has its perks and rewards, but it is also very time consuming and huge commitment, but I get so much more out of it and it makes it all worthwhile. Meeting new people, trying new products, experiencing new events and things I would have probably never been exposed to had it not been for my blog. Don’t let the name “Its Free At Last” fool you, it means much more than just freebies and deals. It also means freedom and liberation to blog, write, try, experience and do so many amazing things.
This year I will be in attendance at BlogHer ’13. This is my second year and I couldn’t be more excited, overwhelmed with fear and joy and “giddy” all at the same time. I met so many friends last year, most of which have become strong and lasting. I have created bonds and contacts that span across the country. This year I am excited to meet up with old friends, and create new friendships and bonds that will hopefully last for years to come.
The power of online and social media has created a new world of communication and I am so privileged and pleased to be apart of it all. The great people at Mazda this year are helping me fulfill my journey to Chicago with a shiny new Mazda CX-9 to drive. Rest assured I will tell you all about it when I get back.
Ask me now, “Why do you blog, Kristin?” and today’s answer would simply be, “Because I love it”. I have gained so much from blogging, friends, being the most valuable and priceless asset.
Be sure to read this passage often as I update my journey with pre-travel plans, advice, questions, pictures and more. As well, I will update it with post-travel things, including great pictures, some great giveaway items to win and much, much more…

I have heard such good things about BlogHer. I wish I was able to go but there is always next year.
I started with the savings/coupon thing too, and transitioned to the lifestyle things once our youngest was diagnosed with a wheat allergy – that changed the whole game for us on how I shopped, couponed and more. I love sharing thoughts on products and experiences and hearing what other bloggers think too – your blog is great! Wish I could go to Blog Her this year and meet up with a bunch of you all!
I am sure you will have a blast this year at BlogHer. I really like the car you get to drive. I can’t wait to hear more about it.
