There is a new movie out based upon a best selling novel, ROOM. Both highly suspenseful and deeply emotional, ROOM is a unique and unexpectedly tender exploration of the boundless love between a mother and her child under the most harrowing of circumstances.Room HeaderFrom the synopsis on the back of the book, you get a glimpse at the heroic tale of a mother’s true love for her child. Once you delve into the book, you will not want to put it down.roomcover_highres

ROOM tells the extraordinary story of Jack (Jacob Tremblay in a breakout performance), a spirited 5 year-old who is looked after by his loving and devoted Ma (Brie Larson, SHORT TERM 12, TRAINWRECK). Like any good mother, Ma dedicates herself to keeping Jack happy and safe, nurturing him with warmth and love and doing typical things like playing games and telling stories. Their life, however, is anything but typical—they are trapped—confined to a windowless, 10-by-10-foot space, which Ma has euphemistically named “Room.” Ma has created a whole universe for Jack within Room, and she will stop at nothing to ensure that, even in this treacherous environment, Jack is able to live a complete and fulfilling life. But as Jack’s curiosity about their situation grows, and Ma’s resilience reaches its breaking point, they enact a risky plan to escape, ultimately bringing them face-to-face with what may turn out to be the scariest thing yet: the real world. ROOM also stars three-time Academy Award® nominee Joan Allen and Academy Award® nominee William H. Macy.

1015_the-room-624x415At once a taut narrative of captivity and freedom, an imaginative trip into the wonders of childhood, and a profound portrait of a family’s bonds and fortitude, ROOM is a beautifully transcendent experience based on the award-winning global bestseller by Emma Donoghue. Director Lenny Abrahamson (FRANK) remains faithful to the novel while bringing Jack, Ma and their entirely singular world to heart-pounding and intensely cinematic life. ROOM demonstrates the triumphant power of familial love even in the darkest of circumstances, and is sure to take its place among the most emotionally affecting films to ever explore the bond between parents and children.

Here is an amazing trailer for you to see this story of love and courage

Screenwriter and Novelist Emma Donoghue will share highlights from her journey in turning her best selling novel into a feature film. She will post twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) on the official ROOM website, sharing thoughts from before, during and after the shoot. Each post will include never-seen pictures or behind the scenes videos from set. Be sure to tune in every Tuesday and Thursday!

  • the whole concept of the movie makes me think of how much we take for granted.

  • I’ve been told to read the book before seeing the movie.

  • It reminds me of the bond between a mother and child and how delicate that is. It appears the film and book will be challenging to read or emotional.

  • I really want to learn more about his explorations of the world! I think this story sounds really interesting and I would love to learn more about it!

  • I couldn’t help but think about what the son is going through and what kind of effect this will have on his life… despite the fact that she tried to make it as “normal” as possible

  • How strong the bond can be between a mother and her son

  • The whole trailer makes me think this will be a hard movie to watch, but I still want to see it.

  • This made me think about how the psychological ramifications of being in a situation like that.

  • I started thinking from the beginning. Would I have the courage? Looks like an edge of your seat book/movie.

  • The bond between mother and sin and how much she cares for him.

  • The part I loved was when Jack first rolled out of the carpet and saw the sky. The wonderment in his eyes brought me to tears <3

  • The part that made me think was when the son was rolled up in a carpet roll in the back of the truck.

  • This movie makes me think of how strong a person can be when they need to.
    thank you

  • The part that really makes me think is that a five year old boy is discovering the World for the first time in his entire life. This sounds like a great dramatic film. 🙂

  • It amazes me that it’s loosely based off of true stories.

  • It makes me think how so very strong the will to survive is.

  • I think that the bonding between mother and her kid makes the movie interesting to see.

  • I loved the fact that she would go to any lengths for her son and the great love it shows.

  • What really made me think is that there have been a few real-life stories of woman who escaped years later & it just made me think about the fact that there are unfortunately others out there still being held against their will!

  • I loved seeing the bond between the mom and her son and the strength she has.

  • The part of the movie that made me think was Ma’s ability to stay strong and provide so much stability for Jack.

  • This movie actually freaks me out a little, because there have been several true stories of women kept for years who later escape with their children. Their strength and resilience are amazing.

  • What really made me think is how strong the bond between a parent and child can be and how they can depend upon one another.

  • It would be hard to be able to live like that for so long and not be affected.

  • The bonding between mother and her kid makes the movie interesting to see.

  • The love between the mother and her child make me think.
