Having always been somewhat of a history buff, I have really wanted to enrich my family’s knowledge and travel to various historic sites around the world. One of our first stops will the the truly spectacular view of British history, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.  The naval yard is one of the three existing, functioning Naval bases in England and is home to the British Royal Navy.

The Portsmouth Historic Dockyard has a wide array of sites that the entire family will enjoy.  From the history museum, to a grand Harbor Tour, you can spend hours upon hours learning about how HMS Warrior of 1860 was the largest and most prestigious ship in Her Majesty’s fleet or discover treasures that have been preserved and shared for over 350 years at the National Museum.

While traveling can be exciting and fun, I am always shopping for ways to get the most bang for our buck.  I recently stumbled upon a fabulous deal that allow my entire family to save big and be able to see all that the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard has to offer.  The Annual All Attraction pass will give us a virtual “All Access” pass to visit the many sites there including the Royal Marines Museum, the Royal Navy Submarine Museum, the HMS Alliance, and may more sites, including the all new Mary Rose Museum.

Built in 1510, the Mary Rose is a Tudor Ship.  As the only historic, sixteenth century ship in the world that is on display for everyone to see, the Mary Rose houses over 19,000 pieces of history and artifacts.  It sank in 1545 and was discovered decades later, in 1971.  After restoration, it now stands proudly in the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and is truly a piece of history that everyone should see.

Another exciting feature of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is the harbor tours that you can take. Lasting for 45 minutes, your entire family can see the spectacular views throughout the harbor, while learning a bit of history about each site.

The Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is a piece of English history that everyone should experience.  No matter what age you are, this site is truly something that people of every age can benefit from and appreciate.
