Not much of a tradition but just wear green and bake cupcakes with green icing for the kids, lol. Thank you for the chance 😉
I was raised in New Orleans and down in the Irish Channel there are huge parades with Mardi Gras floats but instead of just trying to catch beads, dablooms, cups, stuffed animals and toys, in honor of St. Patricks Day they throw carrots, potatoes, onion, and huge heads of Cabbage (the ingredients from Mulligan Stew except for meat). It is so fun to catch them. As a kid, my parents always lead me to believe that I provided the whole weeks worth of food (more if you freeze some) by what I catch (the float riders throw mostly to children) which filled me with such self confience to be able to do my part and help my family, even though I was just a kid.
No traditions for us, but it may be time to start one this year. I’ll have to think of something fun and creative.
St Patty’s day was my grandpops brithday, so every year my mom and i visit his grave to wish him a happy birthday.
