So much has been written about relationships with our partner, co-worker, boss and even our pets! Oddly the tips on relationships with our partner and pets seem strangely similar. Hmmmmm!And while we may read a lot of these articles to help us better interact, we forget that we are much more important.
Perhaps in this time and age, much of our time is spent on social networking and just putting ourselves out there that we don’t spend much time inside, or with ourselves.

More often than not, it has made us or revealed to us how narcissistic some of us really are and hungry for attention.
Now,let us be clear and know that there is a big difference between being narcissistic and having a sense of self. The first is self-amplification. The latter is about self-worth. Here are seven ways towards discovering yourself again.
- Switch off to switch on~ Like when we are done watching TV, we don’t walk around carrying our TV setsthe whole day. Similarly make sure you’ve got a couple of hours of me time without your smartphone or computer. Make a decision to switch off or put your tech tools on silent mode so you can switch on to some me time.
- Me time ~ You’ll be surprised at what an interesting person you can actually be to yourself. You might have hobbies or books to read that you’ve left off. Things that take you away from your computer and smart phones and allow you time to spend creative time.
- Creative time ~ This includes playing a guitar or piano you may have left to collect dust. And if you haven’t, start a new hobby. It might even be flower arrangement. - Self-esteem– Many of us may lack a healthy sense of self-worth. And that is why we need to stop seeing ourselves through somebody else’s eyes. We need to learn to choose to be happy.
- Choose to be happy ~ It is indeed a really simple decision. You can choose to laugh at yourself for the mistakes you have made or knock your head on the wall about it. Trust us, the wall always wins.Always remember to have fun with yourself. It’s never too late.
- It’s never too late ~ Yes, you are worth it. It’s never too late to believe in yourself. It has been said that many times in order to help ourselves, all we need to do is to help others. Surround yourself with positive things and people.
Don’t be too hard on yourself and give yourself a break. There is a saying notto get in line to beat yourself up as there are enough people already in that line. So, start with these simple and practical steps because you are worth it.
