Put simply, a lawyer is someone who is qualified and experienced in being an informative, insightful point of contact to their clients. Along with this, they provide representation to those in need (see www.baderscott.com as an example). They go through a huge amount of training before they are able to practice. But why might you want to contact a lawyer?

If you’ve never had a lawyer before, you might not be too sure when you should reach out to one. Here are 5 reasons you might want to contact a lawyer.

Car accident

Car Accident Lawyers are often required when there have been car accidents with significant injuries or damages. There might be a discussion over who was to blame. Car accidents are common in the states, as most people drive to work, and laws vary between states. Cell-phone use, drink driving and speeding are the most common causes of car accidents. Drive with caution.

Divorce

Divorce is one of the most common reasons for a person to get a lawyer. While divorce can be amicable and settled privately, things often become more complex when children are involved – or if there are complicated financial issues. If one spouse has hired a divorce attorney, then the other will most likely need one too. Divorce attorneys will act as a mediator between the spouses and try to agree on a settlement.

Slip and fall

A person might need a lawyer for a slip and fall injury when it has occurred due to the negligence of a company or individual. For example, if you slipped and fell in a restaurant because liquid was left on the floor you may consider contacting a lawyer, especially if your injuries were significant and put you out of work. The accident wasn’t your fault, yet you have had significant consequences.

Medical malpractice

Put simply, medical malpractice is the legal procedure after a doctor, nurse or other healthcare official has deviated from the standards in their profession, causing injury to a patient. Medical malpractice cases are complex, and no two are the same. A person may have been given a wrongful diagnosis and therefore taken incorrect medication, or been unwell for longer than necessary. Or a surgeon may have made a crucial error during surgery, causing the patient severe harm. Medical malpractice is incredibly serious. Speak to a lawyer if you have any concerns.

Business issues

A person may need to contact a lawyer if they are having issues with their business. Most business earners will hire lawyers to ensure that everything is in good working order. A business lawyer may be able to assist with taxes, leases and the matter of intellectual property. So, if you’re thinking of starting your own business – or have issues with another, it might be time to speak to a lawyer.

When a property owner dies, his assets are commonly inspected by a probate court which effectively provides the final ruling decision regarding division and distribution of assets to beneficiaries. You may be contacted by a probate lawyer if you are the beneficiary of a decedent’s estate. A probate lawyer is a state-licensed attorney who settles the affairs of the decedent and handles any issues that arise with the executors and the beneficiaries of an estate.
