How many of us can remember learning to ride a bike? I must admit that memory is a bit foggy. However, I can remember when my daughter was first learning to ride. It was thrilling, scary, and satisfying all at the same time to say the least. At that time, we had never heard of a Balance Bike, but wait until you see what a genius idea they are!

About Balance Bike

Balance Bikes are bicycles without pedals that help teach children how to ride at an earlier age. Unlike training wheels, a balance bike teaches children counterbalance providing a safer, faster learning experience.

What is a Balance Bike?

Balance Bikes are bikes made for children ages 3+. These adorably fun bikes are “push” bikes. In other words, they have no pedals or training wheels. Your child learns to focus on the important part of balancing on the bicycle. This differs from a bike with training wheels. On bikes with training wheels, kids become dependent on them for balancing instead of focusing on how. Training wheels can also be a pain when they hang up on things or get stuck.

One of the biggest advantages of a Balance Bike is that kids can progress at their own pace. As kids gain confidence, they will feel encouraged to balance on two wheels. If they ever lose balance, they can simply place their feet back on the ground. How genius is that?!

As with any training bike, the main goal is to help them transition to the first bicycle. With these toddler bikes, the transition is made almost effortlessly. Not only will children love practicing, but they will have control over safety and be able to take charge of their learning speed.

My Thoughts on the Balance Bike

I can only look back and wish my daughter had a Balance Bike when she was small. It would have made the process a lot simpler. My comparison would be learning to drive a stick shift. For some, it is hard to learn to change gears and shift at the same time. Even for learning a stick shift, learning one process at a time would make it so much easier!

If your little one is wishing for a bicycle for Christmas, visit Balance Bike and take a look! They come in several fun colors and are sure to bring a giant smile to their face!
