A kit from Let’s Start Coding contains customizable electronics, like LED lights, speakers, buttons, and sensors. Through our online examples and projects, kids learn to manipulate these physical gadgets with code, building gadgets like a ‘four note piano’ or ‘sound-sensitive LEDs’ or whatever they can dream up! When just starting to code, small successes and engaging projects are key to fostering more interest. Because the outcome of kids’ code is immediate, visible, and exciting, a kit with electronics is a great starting point.

This would be a great gift for someone who interested in technology. My oldest loves to follow in his dad’s footsteps and loves anything to do with computers, programs and games. This will be a great learning tool to guide him to create his own music while we are doing virtual schooling. It will make up for what he is missing in school STEM class.

About Let’s Start Coding:

Let’s Start Coding was launched in late 2015 in an effort to provide kids a fun, guided way to start learning typed code. Since then, thousands of kids (and adults!) from around the world have been introduced to coding in a fun, hands-on way at home, school, summer camps, and clubs.  The Let’s Start Coding kits have been praised by parents, teachers and librarians alike for their affordability, ease of use, and high learning value. Let’s Start Coding kits are designed with the beginner in mind though they also make a great “next step” for kids who are familiar with Scratch, Blockly, Minecraft or Hour of Code.

Let’s Start Coding products are used in thousands of schools and homes around the world as an introduction to real, typed computer programming. The immediate feedback of holding a physical object in your hand, plus the online lessons created by educators ensure that this product will make both kids and parents happy!

The company is headquartered in Louisville, KY in the historic Hope Worsted Mills building, which was built in 1905 and is on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Code Piano: Code Piano teaches computer coding through fun sound-based projects. Play songs, create a customizable piano, or code a ‘DJ booth’ of sound effects to invent new digital music. Code Piano combines familiar tunes with new coding concepts for a fun and valuable learning experience. Learners follow along with online projects and write computer code that they load onto the Code Piano. Perfect for learners looking for a true STEAM experience.

    • Customize the code to make Piano sound like a standard keyboard or a DJ booth!
    • Contains Code Piano, retractable USB cable, and reference cards
    • Free software works on Windows, Mac, and Chromebook computers and contains code lesson and examples
  • Makes a great gift for someone interested in technology
