Love Colored Pencils Helps The Novice Artist Hone Their Skills
Are you a new and budding artist or just a novice doodler, such as myself. At 45, I never thought you could train someone my age to draw any better than I already do (which is no Picasso), but then I happened upon this great book that has given a new outlook on drawing. 
Love Colored Pencils by Vivian Wong is a great book that gives you insight on how to draw things, step-by-step. Vivian shares her love of colored pencils and explains that one way “baby-artists” learn to be better is by copying what they see. Love Colored Pencils is designed to enable exactly this.
On one side of each spread, Vivian demonstrates a technique or she colors in a subject, and on the opposite page or the next spread, the reader is encouraged to copy what they see, drawing directly in the book. Exercises throughout offer fun ways to explore drawing while being inspired by Vivian Wong’s popular and colorful drawing style. This is a book for all levels of artist who want to explore this versatile and fun medium with a colorful and talented artist baby step by baby step.
I love being what I consider an advanced doodler and never thought I could hone that skill into making something more surreal and artistic for others to enjoy. I continue to love doodling, but can give it more of an artistic appeal thanks to Vivian and her guide to allowing me to fall in love with my colored pencils.
