Mathable Games #FAMChristmas
We love to buy board games as gifts, both for our own family and for others. I think we tend to forget just how much fun they can be, not mention a great time to interact and spend family time together, without worrying about what to watch on the TV or which video game to play. Thankfully, Mathable Games is combining board games with math skills, so every age level can participate.
Mathable is a game of mathematical equations combining logic, strategy and math skill. Mathable challenges players to use basic math equations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to achieve the highest score. Whether you choose to play the classic, domino, quattro or junior games, Mathable is a great way to spend time with family and friends.
Mathable Junior is a fun game, meant for the younger members of the group, starting around age 5, for 2-4 players. You can choose between either side of the board depending on how you want to play. Plus it comes with instructions (which you can download online if you ever lose them in the future) and the number tiles and racks needed to play.
This is a great way to not only enjoy family time away from the TV and video game systems, but it also helps work on their math skills! The teacher in me loves the idea because suddenly, maybe math isn’t as hard because they have to learn in order to beat the parents or siblings! And as they get better and more confident, you can flip the board over to give everyone a little more freedom.
Then there’s the original Mathable game, meant for 9+ and 2-4 players. Much like in the Mathable Junior game, you place tiles along the board to make math problems. And just like with the other word tile games, the answer must be correct and verifiable, including any additional math problems it may be touching!
I like that this game’s instructions even comes with examples. I admit it, I always read game instructions before I ever start playing. And in case you hate losing paper instructions, you can always download them again from the website in PDF form!
Mathable Games also has other versions available, and even has apps available to download if you want to play it on your tablet or smartphone.
