If you’re having trouble getting a new job, it is probably due to your resume.

Indeed, curriculum vitae is the best platform to showcase your skills, education, and experience but lots of people don’t know how to create it properly. Presentation of the information is every bit as important as the information itself and it takes a bit of practice to do it right.

In this article, we will go through some awesome tips that will help you create a more noticeable and thus impactful resume.

Read on!

  1. Think about the format

Whenever you want to create a new CV, you need to start with format and layout. Esthetic elements are especially important as they have a secondary effect: they will help recruiter read the resume and go through the data. Lots of people think that, as long as their experience and knowledge are vast, they won’t have any trouble landing a new job. This isn’t really true given the modern market and the number of applicants for each job. Keep in mind that renowned companies receive thousands of CVs for each position they open. Competition is cutthroat and recruiters oftentimes skim through the information instead of giving it a second thought. As a result, there is a good chance that a person will not give your resume necessary time due to its poor layout and formatting. Make sure to correct it for maximum performance.

  1. Presenting information in a relevant way

Another thing that is important is which information you will present first. On average, a recruiter will invest 10 to 15 seconds in reading a resume. That means you have very little time to make an impact and if you decided to place your elementary school achievements first, there is a good chance that a person will not even reach your university education or the last employment. You can even opt to exclude certain things that don’t help you. For example, some people love adding all the jobs they had in the past even if they have nothing to do with the position they applied for. Make sure to remove all of these and keep the stuff that might help you land an interview. Minor jobs and achievements may dilute the important information.

  1. Omitting personal information

This is somewhat connected to the previous tip. Basically, there are certain things you should keep to yourself. The company doesn’t have to know about your marital status, religion, army status, age and other things that are not necessarily connected to the employment opportunity. Always remember that people are easy to judge regardless of their position or the fact they need to be objective. Because of that, when creating a contact section, make sure to add your name, phone, and email while reconsidering everything else.

  1. Expanding on your duties and achievements

Oftentimes, people will simply mention their position within a company without providing any additional insight. By doing this, you’re missing an opportunity to make an impact and leave an impression. Recruiters are most interested in your previous jobs and especially the one preceding the application. You can talk about your responsibilities, all the programs, and tools that you used, ways you impacted a company and helped it make more money. In the end, these are the things that your future employer also wants.

With these simple tips, you will be able to create a resume that will leave a great impression on recruiters. In most cases, it is all about information and the way you’re showing it to make sure that is on the top of your list of priorities.
