Suicide Squad

This film features some of the most dangerous locked-up supervillains. As dangerous entities, led by the demonic Enchantress, attempt to destroy mankind, the Government decides to put the supervillains to the test, and in return, their time locked up behind bars will be reduced. Comprised of prisoners, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, El Diablo, Killer Croc, and Slipknot, Task Force X is formed to take on the mission. The cast includes favourites such as Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Cara Delevingne, and Viola Davis, to name a few, making this action-packed film even more of a must-watch! Oh, and we cannot forget about Jared Leto, who received utmost praise for his role as the Joker. Fun fact: he apparently never broke character while on set. He was always the Joker, and never Leto!

Coraline

This animated horror-fantasy film features Dakota Fanning as Coraline Jones, a young girl who is struggling to adapt to her new home, especially with her workaholic parents paying little attention to her. When she is led by a small doll, that resembles her, to a parallel universe through a door in her living room wall, she realises that life is much better on the other side. Her new mother and father are much more caring and attentive than her original parents…or so she thinks. Even after being warned, she continues to revisit them, but the plot takes an eerie turn when her mother from the other world insists on sewing buttons into her eyes and then imprisons her. If you are looking for a dark, creepy, must-watch fantasy film, Coraline is your go too, it will be sure to keep you on your toes.

The Age of Adeline

Blake lively stars within this romantic fantasy film as a young widowed woman who experiences a car crash that causes her to die, then um, become alive again? However, the plot twist is that she will never grow old. When she died, she was 29, and now that she is alive again, her age will remain the same forever. She is constantly on the run and changing her identity, which affects her massively, especially when she runs from a man she loves at the sight of an engagement ring. After meeting a new love interest, Ellis, she has a change of heart, but when she realises that she was connected with his father in her past life, how far will the romance go before everyone knows her prolonged secret?

Space Jam

The original 1996 Space Jam is truly one of the ultimate must-watch fantasy films of the 1990s. The film stars Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny, an amazingly unusual duo, and the rest of the Looney Tunes squad. A major basketball game must take place as a result of the Tunes being abducted and taken to outer space. With the hope of using the Looney Tune characters as attractions at his amusement park, Mr. Swackhammer demands for his minions, The Nerdlucks, to capture them. In an exchange for their freedom, they seek Jordan’s help and basketball skills, but to their surprise, the Nerdlucks have other plans to gain basketball skills of their own.  You can watch this on your laptop.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Young Charlie Buckett resides near the Wonka Factory, a factory run by the famous Willy Wonka that now remains closed. Wonka announces a contest that involves winning a golden ticket for a tour of the factory and an additional prize at the end of the tour. Following the announcement, Charlie’s family, living in poverty in a condensed space, manage to spare some money for him to purchase a Wonka Bar in an attempt to win the contest, however he loses both times. When he finds a $10, he purchases his third bar and opens it to a winning ticket. With much speculation, kind-hearted Charlie decides to embark on the journey to Wonka Factory with his grandpa Joe to only find out that the madness with Mr. Wonka, portrayed by Johnny Depp, and the other delirious ticket winners has only just begun.

The Grinch

Everyone’s favourite furry green character stars in this 2000s Universal Studios hit. The Grinch, played by Jim Carrey, is a problematic and secluded creature who resides on Mount Crumpit with his dog, Max. With an extreme hatred towards Christmas, he “entirely loathes” the town of Whoville below him, comprised of “The Whos”, who take pleasure in decorating the town for their favourite holiday. When the unspirited creature meets fun-loving Cindy Lou Who, will his opinions on the holiday change, or will he continue his plan to ruin Christmas and remain isolated for the rest of his life? A Christmas favourite and must-watch fantasy film all year round!
