Finding the right newborn photographer is a complex decision not to be taken lightly. In fact, many people spend as much time finding their photographer as what they do finding a pediatrician. And it is no surprise, really. After all, a child is only a newborn for a very short period of time and if someone doesn’t take the pictures properly, there will be no more opportunities to have them redone. As such, it is vital that you know how to find the top Los Angeles newborn photographer for your individual needs. Below are some important hints and tips.

Newborn Photography

Searching for a Photographer

No search nowadays is complete without going online and performing a Google search. This should be your place to start as well. Based on that, you should search for the photographers you are considering on sites such as Facebook, Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. This will give you a reasonable idea of how people have experienced the services they have received.

Hopefully, your list will already be considerably shorter now. This means the time has come to speak to people you know and ask for their opinions. Perhaps you know someone who has recently had a baby and who had newborn photographs taken, for instance. Even if you don’t know anybody who can provide you with direct tips based on their experience, you can still ask for their opinions. You can show them the photographer’s online portfolio, for instance, and ask for their opinion.

What is equally important, however, is that you know what to look for. You must study the attributes and policies of a good newborn photographer and determine who meets those the best. Remember that you will trust somebody with creating eternal, visible memories. This means that you must also feel that you are in good hands with them.

Below is a top ten list of things that matter. Remember that everybody is an individual, so if you care about something that isn’t on this list, you should add it to your personal list. In fact, use this top 10 list as an inspiration to create your own. Try to always have at least 10 items on the list, being things that matter to you as a person. You will be trusting someone to hold and position your precious baby and to photograph them, and this is something not to be taken lightly. Trust your own good judgement, instinct and gut feelings.

A Top 10 List

  1. They must pay attention, both to you and your needs, and to the needs of your baby.
  2. They must have a plan so that you know what is going to happen next at each point during the photoshoot.
  3. They must have a proper consultation with you, otherwise they won’t know what you’re looking for and you won’t know what to expect.
  4. They must offer a home option, coming to you.
  5. They must be very patient, you cannot tell babies what to do, after all.
  6. They must have excellent digital skills.
  7. They must love what they do, and really enjoy spending time with babies.
  8. They must know how to make you and your child feel comfortable.
  9. They must give you enough time.
  10. You must like their personality.
