Three Crafting Ideas For You and Your Kids This Fall
Fall is a wonderful time of year. The greenery changes to amazing shades of orange, yellow, and red, giving the scenery you see on a daily basis some variety and excitement. The air gets colder, requiring you to dress the kids in warmer, yet trendy, clothes. The days get shorter and limit the amount of time you can enjoy the brilliant sunlight, so you enjoy your outdoor activities even more. The old pig skin gets tossed around in one of the most exciting sports in America.
Fall is not just the best time to watch football or update your kid’s fall wardrobe; it is also a great time to do arts and crafts with your kids. As the sun sets earlier than it used to, the kids are coming back inside sooner. They will need something to keep them preoccupied (hopefully you do not rely on the TV for this). Keep your kids busy with some fun crafts, and make sure to craft with them – they will enjoy spending time with you.
Leaf Art
There are plenty of dead leaves littering the ground. Have the kids gather some up before coming inside. You can use them in your artwork. If you have a wreath form, you and the kids can glue the leaves to the form and create their own wreaths to hang on the front door. If you planned ahead, you may have some grapevine forms to give your wreaths a more natural appearance.
Add some glitter to the leaves (you will be finding glitter everywhere for the next six months!) and use them in the wreaths or a collage. Use some straight grave vines and glue the glittered leaves to them to make hanging or vining decorations for the house.
Paper Plate Characters
Take some construction paper, use some glue, and add some googly eyes to some paper plates to create your own decorations to hang around the living room and kitchen. Cut shapes out of the construction paper to form the features of a scarecrow face. Add colorful strips to create feathers for a turkey. Throw some paint onto the paper plates and turn them into monsters or ghosts for Halloween.
Halloween Costume
Something else you can do in preparation for Halloween is to work on your kids’ costumes together. Instead of buying a premade costume from a store or online, help the kiddos decide what stuff they can use that you already have around the house. Goofy or scary, there is usually something lying around that can be converted into a costume. Just make sure you do not need that article of clothing for after the fun.
Cut some holes into a pair of old jeans, help your kids add some fake blood to them for added effect. Or, glue some patches to a beat up jacket. Find things around the house you can add to the costume to make it fun.
These are cute crafts my granddaughter will love them.
