Planning a trip to London is exciting! There are so many things to do, things to see, places to eat and photos to make a mental note to take. With all of the day dreaming and planning that goes into an international trip it is almost too easy to forget about the most important part of any trip… the accommodations! Getting there certainly is half of the battle, but finding somewhere great to stay is just as important to me.

When I am preparing for any trip that takes me away from home and to a hotel, I want to find the best hotel at the best price possible. I work hard for my money.  I want to be comfortable and I want to feel a little pampered while I am away from home. The Mom in me adores the break a hotel offers. Just think, someone else makes the bed! Someone else gathers the towels from the bathroom… what a dream come true for any mother!

Grand Royale London Hyde Park is a hotel that offers all of the amenities that I desire such a mix of old and new, history and class. I love the timeless and graceful building with the modern interior that exudes sophistication. As I read about the hotel my heart skipped a beat for the dark tinted Venetian glass chandeliers, the tall glass windows and complex oak woodwork that are prevalent in the hotel.

The history of the hotel boasts that the building was commissioned by Edward VII as a private home for his mistress. Her bedroom has been modified tastefully, but still holds the charm of many of the original features of the room.

The mood lighting sets a mellow tone and each room is complete with comfy beds, a rain shower and access to the theater bar and fitness center to insure they are relaxed and able to enjoy their stay. I have a feeling that a few days at this hotel and I will feel like it is my official home away from home.

The location of the hotel is nearby Central Park and The Queens Park, as well as the famed Kennsington Palace and Hyde Park. It would be quite possible to have the trip of a lifetime without venturing too far away from my well appointed hotel.

A stay in London isn’t complete without a visit to Buckingham Palace or China Town. The London Zoo is also close by and promises to be a fun afternoon spent in a magical place. The London Dungeons are also within a short distance, to offer a glimpse of the history of the area.

Asides from the offerings in terms of accommodations and nearby attractions, the hotel is affordable, which means we will have more money to spend sightseeing, eating local cuisine and of course shopping! I have the Portobello Market on my list of places to visit.

Have you had the pleasure of visiting the Hyde Park area? I would love to hear your recommendations on what to see and where to eat in this part of London.
