Homemade Apple Pie Recipe: The Perfect Dessert
With Fall, comes the apple season. So, what better time than to prepare a Homemade Apple Pie?! I think it is safe to say that most people love apple pie and this recipe is so easy to do! Take my word for it! While I may be able to whip out a few recipes, baking is not my forte. However, this is such an easy recipe, family and guest will think you have been making it all your life! It’s also the perfect dessert for a nightly family meal or get-togethers over the coming holidays. Serve it with a scoop of ice cream and you have a dessert that is absolutely hard to beat!

Homemade Apple Pie
Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 55 mins
Yields: 1 pie
Ingredients:
6 cups peeled and thinly sliced Granny Smith apples
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 Tbls. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Double-crust pie pastry (9 inches)
1 Tbls. butter
Sugar for sprinkling
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Peel and thinly slice apples.
Using a small mixing bowl, combine the sugars, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside.
Add the apple slices into a large mixing bowl and sprinkle the lemon juice on top.
Add sugar mixture and toss to coat.
Stir and combine well.
Line the bottom of a 9 or 9 1/2 inch pie plate with one of the pie pastries.
Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie plate.
Dot the mixture with pieces of the butter.
Add the remaining pastry to the top of the filled pie crust.
Tuck the edges and seal and flute edges. Cut 4 – 1-inch slits in the top of the pastry.
Sprinkle with a pinch of sugar.
Place foil around the edges of the pie crust.
Bake at 350° for 25 minutes and then remove foil.
Bake approximately 25-30 minutes longer, or until crust is golden brown. Watch closely the last 5-10 minutes of baking.
Cool on a wire baking rack.
NOTES: Wait until cool and set to cut for serving.
